What is going to be your spark this year? How are you thinking about making a difference?

Jonathan Lykes is a Facing History alum at the University of Chicago. This performance piece --a call to action, "a siren," by Jonathan has stayed with me since I first watched it several months ago.

Jonathan connects the legacies of racism, stereotypes, and apathy in his own life, in a very raw and real way, and then shows how he used the lessons from history to envision a different kind of future for himself and others. There are millions of former Facing History students out there who are now what we call our Alumni. We know that their teachers and Facing History have made a positive impact on their lives too because they often come back and tell us, and because our studies prove it. Jonathan's story shows it.

What inspires you to live your life a little differently this year? What is your call to action? Your spark?
